Survey: 60% of Atlanta, Dallas CIOs plan to hire

March 11, 2013

Nearly 60 percent of Atlanta and Dallas CIOs plan to hire in 2013, according to the annual CIO survey by The Intersect Group, an Atlanta-based finance, accounting and IT staffing and consulting firm. Thirty-seven percent will hire between one and five employees and those employees will be staffed in a senior-level permanent role. Contract-to-permanent hire employees will comprise 23.9 percent of jobs being staffed.

“It is a positive shift to see companies expanding their IT function,” said Wade Hughes, The Intersect Group’s managing partner. “With the resurgence of bringing jobs back onshore, there is no doubt that jobs within the information technology space will grow and CIOs should be ready and able to staff accordingly.”

Key findings include:

  • 65.2 percent of companies represented have seen increased revenue in 2012 versus 2011
  • 71.7 percent of respondents plan to increase IT spending in 2013 in comparison to 2012
  • 91.3 percent of respondents plan to either increase staff or maintain current levels within their IT function in 2013, comparing to 2012
  • 54.3 percent of those jobs being staffed will be staffed by permanent hire employees, while 23.9 percent will be staffed by contract-to-permanent hire employees
