Twenty-nine percent of U.S. employers plan to hire summer workers this year, according to a survey released by CareerBuilder. While unchanged from 2012, the number is up from an average of 21 percent from 2008 to 2011.

Among sectors, 47 percent of employers in leisure and hospitality plan to add summer workers. In addition, 34 percent of both the manufacturing and information technology sectors and 33 percent of retail employers plan to add seasonal help.

Sixty-seven percent of employers hiring this summer said they will consider summer hires for permanent positions.

The CareerBuilder survey was conducted online by Harris Interactive between Feb. 11 and March 6, 2013. It included 2,184 U.S. hiring managers and human resource professionals.
