Sun Healthcare Group Inc. (NASD: SUNH), an Irvine, Calif.-based healthcare company, reported third-quarter revenue in its medical staffing division rose 1.7 percent on a year-over-year basis to $21.8 million.

Sun provides healthcare staffing through its CareerStaff division. It’s just one division of the company, which posted revenue of $460.5 million in the third quarter.

The publicly held company is in the process of being acquired by Genesis HealthCare LLC in a deal that will take the company private. Sun reported the transaction is expected to close in December.

Sun ranks No. 12 on Staffing Industry Analysts’ 2012 list of largest healthcare staffing providers.
