The number of employed youth, those between 16 and 24 years old, rose by 2.1 million to 20.3 million — or 52.7% of the overall youth population — from April to July, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.
Unemployment among youth rose by 654,000 in the same time frame. The youth unemployment rate was 12.2% in July 2015, 2.1 percentage points less than the same month year prior.
