Suit filed in death of temp at Wal-Mart

December 04, 2008

The family of the temporary worker who died the day after being trampled by a mob of shoppers at a Long Island Wal-Mart in post-Thanksgiving shopping has filed a lawsuit against the retail giant, according to The Associated Press.

Jdimytai Damour, the temporary employee, worked for Labor Ready. "It's incredibly sad, very tragic," said Stacey Burke, VP of corporate communications at Labor Ready's parent, TrueBlue Inc. (NYSE: TBI).

The Los Angeles Times reported the lawsuit also named Vornado Realty Trust, Securitas Security Services USA Inc. and the Green Acres Mall as defendants. The Associated Press reported that the family also plans to sue Nassau County and its police department. Burke said TrueBlue was not named in a lawsuit.
