Staffing price index trends upward in September

October 29, 2013

The U.S. producer price index for employment services has trended upward since July, and in September posted its highest year-over-year growth so far this year. The index jumped 2.5 percent on a year-over-year basis to a reading of 129.4 in September, according to data released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Producer price indexes track the change in price received by service producers over time. The change in price is measured from the perspective of the seller, in this case staffing firms.

The employment services industry includes employment placement agencies, temporary help services, executive search services and professional employer organizations.

Employment services is just one industry tracked by the producer price indexes.
