Staffing price index’s upward climb slows in October

November 21, 2013

The U.S. producer price index for employment services edged up in October to a reading of 129.6 from September’s reading of 129.4, but the year-over-year growth rate in October was unchanged from the rate in September, according to data released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The year-over-year growth rate had been trending up since June.

Producer price indexes track the change in price received by service producers over time. The change in price is measured from the perspective of the seller, in this case staffing firms.

The employment services industry includes employment placement agencies, temporary help services, executive search services and professional employer organizations.

Employment services is just one industry tracked by the producer price indexes.
