The American Staffing Association's (ASA) index measuring temporary employment fell four points in July to 95. The ASA said staffing firms reported strong demand for higher skilled workers, but some staffing sectors have seen decreased demand. As a result, the index has been relatively flat since January.
The index measures changes in the number of temporary and contract employees both weekly and monthly. The monthly change is calculated using data from the week that includes the 12th day of the month. Its baseline value of 100 was set in June 2006.
