Staffing index is flat

May 28, 2008

The American Staffing Association's index measuring temporary employment was unchanged in May at 100, the same reading as in April. The index has remained flat since the middle of January despite difficult economic times, according to the ASA. And the level of 100 in May is also unchanged from May 2007.

The index measures changes in the number of temporary and contract employees both weekly and monthly. The monthly change is calculated using data from the week that includes the 12th day of the month. Its baseline value of 100 was set in June 2006.
