Staffing index hits new high

October 31, 2007

The American Staffing Association's index measuring temporary employment was at 109 in October, a new high from September's reading of 108. The index experienced small percentage increases every week as it entered the month of October, according to the ASA.

The ASA's index measures changes in the number of temporary and contract employees both weekly and monthly. The monthly change is calculated using data from the week that includes the 12th day of the month. It began in June 2006 with a reading of 100.
