The American Staffing Association's index measuring temporary employment edged down one point to a reading of 71 in April from a reading of 72 in March. The association reported the index has been relatively flat since January.
The index measures changes in the number of temporary and contract workers both weekly and monthly. The monthly measure is taken from the week containing the 12th of the month. The index's baseline value of 100 was set in June 2006.
