Staffing firms are part of federal IMAGE

September 10, 2008

Staffing firms were among 37 new partners in the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Mutual Agreement between Government and Employers (IMAGE) program aimed at ensuring companies hire only workers legally authorized to work in the United States.

The IMAGE program began in January 2007. Chicago-based staffing firm Staff Management Inc. was a charter member.

Tuesday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced that industrial staffing firm TrueBlue Inc. (NYSE: TBI) was added to the IMAGE program list of full members. In addition, Talent Tree Inc., of Houston, Express Employment Professionals of Bellingham WA and Express Employment Professionals of Mt. Vernon WA were among the associate members of IMAGE — those firms who are working to meet the standards of the program.

To participate in the IMAGE program, firms must do a self assessment, enroll in the E-Verify program, join a Social Security number verification service, undergo an I-9 audit by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and sign an official IMAGE agreement.
