February 03, 2010

The former owner of a Texas staffing firm pleaded guilty to tax evasion in not paying more than $1 million in employment taxes, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Texas.

Priscilla Ann Clues, former owner of Exclusive Temporaries Inc. in Houston, did not pay employment taxes for the years 2000 through 2002 and for 2004 as well as part of 1999, and owed $1.4 million, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

At one point, during an IRS audit, Clues transferred $1.3 million out of the country to avoid paying employment taxes, the office said.

Clues agreed to pay $1.4 million in restitution to the IRS. She faxes a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine; sentencing is scheduled May 3.
