Staffing firm lists top finance/accounting, IT jobs for salary increases in Toronto area

February 05, 2015

Salaries in the Toronto area finance and accounting sector will rise 4.79% this year while Toronto IT salaries will rise 3.45%, according to Lannick Group of Companies’ 2015 salary report.

The Toronto-based staffing provider listed the top seven Canadian finance/accounting and IT jobs for increased demand and salaries in 2015:

  1. Manager of financial reporting: C$80,000 to C$110,000
  2. Manager of planning and analysis: C$85,050 to C$120,000
  3. Tax manager: C$89,067 to C$143,000
  4. Mobile web developer: C$75,000 to C$110,000
  5. Front end web developer: C$75,000 to C$98,000
  6. IT security analyst: C$85,000 to C$115,000
  7. Manager of application development: C$90,000 to C$125,000

“As the global economy continues to heal, Canadian finance, accounting and IT employers need robust recruiting and retention strategies to succeed in outperforming the competition in 2015 and beyond,” said Lannick Group President and CEO Peter Jeewan. “The ever-evolving regulatory landscape means that highly specialized skills in risk, compliance, internal audit and system security continue to be in great demand.”

Entry-level hiring is another emerging trend, according to Jeewan.

“Rather than searching for the ideal candidate with all the right education, qualifications and prior work experience, many companies now hire new graduates with the right soft skills and personality to fit into the existing corporate culture — then train them to suit a custom need,” he said.

Salaries were collected from Nov. 1, 2013, to Nov. 1, 2014, throughout the Greater Toronto Area. Figures are based on 5,213 reported salary changes and job placements in the finance, accounting and IT sectors. Salaries forecasted for 2015 are assumptions based on economic factors and the Statistics Canada Labor Force Survey.
