Staffing Now buys Twin Cities firm

November 20, 2007
Staffing Now acquired Certes Financial Pros, a finance and accounting staffing firm serving the Minneapolis and St. Paul markets. Terms of the deal were not announced. Certes CEO Sally Mainquist and its existing management team will remain and work to expand the company's presence outside the Twin Cities area. Certes founder Karen Oman will also stay.

Staffing Now was acquired in November 2006 by Gryphon Investors, a San Francisco-based private equity firm, and Marcy Consulting Group, led by former Spherion Corp. (NYSE: SFN) CEO Ray Marcy. In the new deal, Marcy will provide support to Certes in expanding with new offices and acquisitions.

The Certes deal marks Staffing Now's second acquisition since the West Des Moines IA-based staffing firm was acquired. Staffing Now's first acquisition took place in June when it bought Q&A Staffing, which provides finance and accounting and information technology staffing in the Dallas and Houston areas.

Gryphon has acquired several other staffing companies including Nursefinders Inc. in 2004, Update Legal in 2005, and DLC Inc. in 2006. It sold Nursefinders to an affiliate of Goldman Sachs in August 2007.

Staffing Now provides administrative/clerical, finance and accounting, and legal staffing.
