St. Paul/Bloomington and Salt Lake City post lowest jobless rates

The St. Paul-Bloomington, Minn., and Salt Lake City areas had the lowest unemployment rate in September — both at 3.1% — among US metropolitan areas with populations of 1 million or more, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The Las Vegas-Henderson-Paradise, Nev., metropolitan area posted the highest jobless rate among large metro areas at 6.8% in September.

Bismarck, N.D., posted the lowest jobless rate in September among metropolitan areas of all sizes at 2.0%. Yuma, Ariz., and El Centro, Calif., had the highest unemployment rates at 26.0% and 21.6%, respectively.
