Special Counsel, the legal staffing division of Jacksonville FL-based MPS Group Inc. (NYSE: MPS), acquired Prescott Legal Search Inc. and Prescott Legal Professionals, Houston-based legal staffing providers. Terms of the transaction were not announced.

Prescott provides full-time and contract attorneys to law firms and corporate legal departments. Roseanne Hancock, senior VP of finance and administration at Prescott, said the 26-year-old firm also provides perm and temp placement for other legal staff such as paralegals. Management will remain with the company.

Growth Capital Partners was the financial adviser to Prescott.
