South Africa – Recruitment Trend Survey released.

01 September 2015

The infographic below shows the result of an MCI Consultants survey of 1,367 HR professionals across South Africa. Results include the following:

  • Talent retention increased, with the majority of companies reporting staff turnover of between 5%-10%, the lowest it has been in years;
  • 88% of organisations attempt to source and place candidates internally before approaching recruitment agencies;
  • 64% of organisations have implemented a strategy to ensure their recruitment process is POPI (Protection of Personal Information Act) compliant;
  • 74% of organisations use social media to recruit candidates, with LinkedIn being by far the most successful;
  • 56% of organisations use a recruitment management system such as MCI's Direct Hire system; and
  • Overall, recruitment agencies and internal referrals gave the best quality candidates, while print media gave the worst.

Speaking about the results Rhett Davies, Partner at MCI commented "We believe this one to be the largest survey of its kind to be conducted in South Africa,"

"The interest shown in this survey clearly indicates that recruitment is an area that is causing many challenges for companies as they seek to grapple with the ongoing skills shortage that exists in this country."

This is the fourth consecutive year that MCI Consultants has undertaken this survey.
