Santa Clara, Calif., posted the highest average weekly wage among all large US county areas in the second quarter of 2014, while Midland County in Texas posted the largest year-over-year increase in average weekly wage, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.
Santa Clara County, home of Silicon Valley, posted an average weekly wage of $1,886. Midland County had the largest percentage year-over-year wage increase at 9.0 percent.
The 10 large US counties with the highest average weekly wages in the second quarter:
- Santa Clara, Calif.: $1,886
- San Mateo, Calif.: $1,740
- New York, N.Y.: $1,732
- San Francisco, Calif.: $1,593
- Washington, D.C.: $1,569
- Arlington, Va.: $1,516
- Suffolk, Mass.: $1,463
- Fairfax, Va.: $1,457
- Fairfield, Conn.: $1,455
- Middlesex, Mass.: $1,386
The 10 large US counties with the highest year-over-year increases in average weekly wage in the second quarter:
- Midland, Texas: 9.0 percent
- Douglas, Colo.: 8.8 percent
- Hillsborough, N.H. 7.4 percent
- Collier, Fla.: 6.8 percent
- San Mateo, Calif.: 6.6 percent
- Calcasieu, La.: 6.4 percent
- Newport News City, Va.: 6.2 percent
- Weld, Colo.: 5.8 percent
- Washington, Ore.: 5.5 percent
- Ingham, Mich.: 5.4 percent
