California’s Santa Clara County, home of Silicon Valley, posted the highest average weekly wage among large U.S. counties at $1,754 in the second quarter of 2012, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. It was followed by New York County, N.Y., at $1,646 and Washington, D.C., at $1,544.

Washington County in Oregon posted the biggest wage gain among the largest U.S. counties, with its average weekly wage rising 8.5 percent in the second quarter to $1,122.
