An employment agency and its directors in Alberta, Canada, were charged on suspicion of collecting fees from two foreign workers to find jobs -- a prohibited practice, Service Alberta announced last Thursday.
Platinum-Care.com Corp. and its directors, Leahnette Acuna and Rossana Lim, allegedly charged two foreign workers a total of $5,200 to find healthcare jobs in Alberta, according to Service Alberta. The workers allegedly paid the money in October 2008 and requested their money back in December 2008, but have not yet received it.
The maximum penalty can be $100,000, up to two years in jail or both, according to Service Alberta.
