Select names franchise division president

August 12, 2014

The Select Family of Staffing Companies, the 10th-largest U.S. staffing firm, hired Steve Mills as president of its franchise division. The division includes more than 50 franchisees operating more than 150 U.S. offices under the Remedy Intelligent Staffing and Westaff brands. He will also join Select's executive committee.

Mills replaces Irwin Much, who retired from the position earlier this year.

Until selling his interest in 2013, Mills was president and co-owner of Philadelphia-based Armstrong Franklin and Liberty Staffing. He previously also previously served as CEO of London-based MRI Worldwide Network and senior vice president of franchise operations for franchised search business MRI Inc.

“Steve Mills' proven track record of leadership in franchised organizations, especially in the staffing industry, is precisely what we have been seeking,” CEO Steve Sorensen. “Add to that Steve's first-hand experience as an entrepreneur, and you have a perfect fit for this critical role as Select's franchise president.”

Select exited Chapter 11 and revamped its board of directors in May.

The Santa Barbara, Calif.-based firm’s brands include Select Staffing (SelectRemedy in Illinois), Remedy Intelligent Staffing, Select Truckers Plus, Westaff and RemX Specialty Staffing. It also has divisions focused on professional development training (Power Training Institute) and a managed services program (SinglePoint Solutions).
