Revenue rose 22.9% at SThree PLC, a London-based staffing firm, for the first half of its fiscal year ending June 1. The company posted revenue of GBP295.4 million (US$589.5 million), compared with GBP240.4 million in the first half of the previous year.

"The current uncertain economic situation has been reflected in some areas of the U.K. market, particularly those exposed to the banking and finance sector," said CEO Russell Clements. "However this has been offset by an extremely robust performance from our international offices."

Gross margin improved to 34.7% from 34.3%. Net income rose 13.7% to GBP15.0 million (US$29.9 million) from GBP13.2 million in the second half of the previous year.

SThree has 54 offices in 10 countries, including one office in the United States.
