Hiring will jump in the U.S. service sector in July compared to the same month a year ago and hiring in the U.S. manufacturing sector will also increase, according to the leading indicators of national employment report released today by the Society for Human Resource Management.

The report’s survey found that 49.6 percent of service-sector companies plan to hire in July while 7.1 percent plan to reduce their workforces for a net increase of 42.5 percent. That compares to a net increase of 24.1 percent in July 2012.

In the manufacturing sector, 50.7 percent of firms plan to hire in July while 12.3 percent plan to reduce their workforces for a net increase of 38.4 percent. That compares to a net increase of 36.7 percent in July 2012.

Data for this report is collected through a monthly survey of human resource executives at more than 500 manufacturing and 500 service-sector firms.
