SFN employee confidence index rises 3.9 points

SFN Group's (NYSE: SFN) employee confidence index rose 3.9 points in April to a reading of 53.1 as workers gained confidence in both their current employers and their ability to find new job.

The index's monthly survey found that 31% believed the U.S. economy was getting better in April, up seven percentage points from the March survey.

In addition, 68% of workers were confident in the future of their current employers, up eight percentage points from March. The number of workers confident in their ability to find new jobs also rose to 42% in April from 36% in March.

"Our latest index is very encouraging," SFN Group President and CEO Roy Krause said. "Reaching its highest level since November 2007, this month's report indicates U.S. workers are not only feeling more personally confident in their employment situation, but they are also more optimistic about the strength of the economy."

The index's survey questioned 1,649 employed adults in the U.S.
