Report projects Edmonton to lead Canadian metros in job growth

December 29, 2014

Edmonton ranks as the top Canadian metropolitan area for job growth between 2014 and 2020 when ranked among the most populous metro areas, according to research from CareerBuilder and Economic Modeling Specialists International.

Edmonton leads with 8 percent projected job growth from 2014 to 2020. Calgary followed with 7 percent growth and Regina and Saskatoon both projected 6 percent growth.

“Employment grew by an average of 21,300 per month in the six months leading to November, and our findings show that employers will continue adding jobs at a steady pace across a variety of industries and regions,” said Mark Bania, director of CareerBuilder Canada. “It is important for job seekers to be aware of the labor market growth trends as they consider their options in the coming years, particularly if they are in school or thinking of going back to school, or considering a career change.”
