View All NewsReport: Senators drop card check language
July 17, 2009
Six Senate Democrats agreed to drop a provision of the proposed Employee Free Choice Act that would have required companies to recognize unions without a secret ballot election if a majority of workers signed cards requesting a union, The New York Times reported today.
The Employee Free Choice Act, introduced earlier this year, was also known as card check.
Citing Senate and labor officials, the newspaper reported a revised bill would stipulate quicker elections and shorter union campaigns.
