Information technology services firms’ revenue rose 4.1 percent in 2010 following a median contraction of nearly 7 percent in 2009, according to a report released last week by TechServe Alliance, a collaboration of IT services firms, clients, consultants and suppliers.

The top 25 percent of IT services firms posted revenue growth of 13.5 percent.

“While revenue as well as gross and net margins have improved, the tide has not equally lifted all boats,” said Mark Roberts, CEO of TechServe Alliance. “While the median firm’s profitability of 3.8 percent was an improvement from last year, the best-performing firms continued to generate net margins more than double those of typical IT services firm.”
