Recruit Holdings Co., the world’s fifth-largest staffing firm and the largest staffing firm in Japan, invested in Tokyo-based Gengo, Inc., a crowdsourcing translation service provider. Gengo plans to use the funds raised to develop new products and expand its customer base in the US.
TechinAsia reports the investment was US$5.4 million.
Gengo provides crowdsourcing translation services with approximately 14,000 translators. Its clients include electronics manufacturers, publishers and IT service providers.
Recruit made the investment through its investment subsidiary RSP Fund No. 5 LLC.
