Real average weekly earnings rise 0.2%

Real average weekly earnings rose by 0.2% month-over-month in March, according to preliminary, seasonally adjusted data released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Although the consumer price index for urban wage earners and clerical workers rose 0.4%, average weekly hours and average hourly earnings each rose 0.3%.

Average weekly earnings were $607.49 in March before seasonal adjustment and inflation, compared with $580.99 a year earlier.
