February 04, 2016

Talent seeking the highest-paying jobs and the employers trying to attract top talent can both expect competition to remain fierce for the positions on Randstad’s list of the most in-demand jobs for 2016.

The list was compiled with the Economic Research Institute, and the hot jobs reflect one or more market force that make particular jobs stand out from the rest: technology innovation; increased employer need for specific skillsets; fewer qualified candidates; market expansion; and data security.

Here are the three hottest jobs by segment:

  • Engineering: Manufacturing engineers; mechanical engineers; electrical engineers
  • Finance and accounting: Senior accountants; cost accountants; finance (financial analysis and planning) managers
  • Human resources: HR generalists; learning and development managers; HR business partners
  • IT: Project managers; software engineers (Java focus); network and security engineers
  • Manufacturing and logistics: Machine operators; forklift operators; labor-warehouse
  • Office and administration: Intermediate-level administrative assistants intermediate-level customer service; entry-level customer service
