Randstad buys stake in Japanese firm

November 25, 2008

Randstad Holding NV, one of the world's largest staffing firms, said today it acquired a 10% stake in Japanese staffing firm FujiStaff Holdings Inc. Randstad said it bought the share for euro12.3 million (US$15.6 million). Tokyo-based FujiStaff provides staffing and other services.

FujiStaff, a public company, posted revenue of around euro700 million (US$1.11 billion) in its fiscal year ended March 2008. Randstad said the company ranks as the sixth-largest firm in the Japanese market.

The companies earlier this year launched a joint project called the Global Staffing Research Center to analyze the significance of human resources services in the labor market.

Randstad first entered the Japanese market in 2006 with a branch in Tokyo.
