Randstad: Money most important driver to switch jobs

June 17, 2014

While most employees, 56 percent, state they have the perfect job, a larger percentage say that their job is merely a means to make a living and nothing more, according to findings from Randstad’s latest Global Workmonitor survey.

Seventy-four percent of both U.S. respondents and Canadian respondents agreed with the statement, “I would change jobs if I can make more money elsewhere.” Globally, 75 percent of the respondents would change jobs if they can make more money elsewhere.

Globally, 72 percent agreed with the statement, “Temporary work is a stepping stone to a permanent job.” Seventy-nine percent in the U.S. and 76 percent in Canada agreed with that statement.

And 69 percent globally agreed with the statement, “If I was unemployed, I would use a staffing agency to find a job.” This compares with 65 percent in the U.S. and 58 percent in Canada.

The Randstad Workmonitor study is conducted online among a population aged 18-65, working a minimum of 24 hours a week in a paid job (not self-employed). The minimal sample size is 400 interviews per country and the second wave of 2014 was conducted between April 16 and May 6, 2014.
