RCM Technologies Inc. (NASD: RCMT) reported second-quarter revenue fell 14.2% year over year to $47.2 million. The Pennsauken NJ-based staffing firm provides engineering, information technology and commercial staffing.

Second-quarter gross margin narrowed to 24.5% from 27.5% in the year-ago quarter.

RCM's net income was $246,000, down 82.9% from $1.4 million in the second quarter of 2008.

The current economic environment remains challenging, RCM Chairman and CEO Leon Kopyt said in a statement. However, he said the company expects improvement in operating income in the third and fourth quarters.
