RCM acquires substation engineering firm

August 04, 2015

RCM Technologies Inc. (NASD GM: RCMT) — a provider of engineering, IT and healthcare staffing — acquired Substation Design Services LLC, a Pennsylvania-based engineering firm specializing in design services for substation projects. RCM expects the acquisition to expand its engineering services offerings and provide a stronger depth of experienced engineering resources.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

SDS projects over the past 14 years range from 13 kV to 500 kV transmission and distribution class substations. It has completed more than 300 substation projects for utilities and consulting firms including Atlantic City Electric, AREVA T&D, Baltimore Gas and Electric, Delmarva Power and Light, Old Dominion Electric Cooperative, Pacific Gas and Electric, and Potomac Electric Power Company.

“We are very pleased to welcome SDS into the RCM family,” said RCM President and CEO Rocco Campanelli. “This acquisition brings a talented pool of engineers with years of experience in T&D services who will enhance RCM’s capabilities at a time when utilities have earmarked millions of dollars in capital expenditures for new substations, upgrading existing stations and new GIS facilities. Many of our clients, as well as customers of SDS, are focused on greater reliability in a post-Sandy world.”
