Heidrick & Struggles International Inc. (NASD: HSII) said Howard Levine joined it as a principal in its life sciences practice and that Douglas Bechler joined as a principal in its education/nonprofit practice team. Levine comes from Merck & Co. where he was VP of human resources for Merck Research Laboratories. He will be based in Philadelphia. Bechler was formerly VP of business development at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, he will be based in New York.

Westaff Inc. (NASD: WSTF) named James Klauber as senior VP of national accounts and managed services. Klauber has directed national account and marketing programs for several companies including Comsys IT Partners Inc. (NASD: CITP) and Adecco SA.
