Salaries rose for a majority of healthcare information technology professionals in 2013, according to survey results released by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).

More than two-thirds of survey respondents, 71.6 percent, reported they received a salary increase during the year, and the average salary increase was 4.1 percent.

The average salary in for healthcare IT professionals was $113,269, although the median salary was $95,000.

The HIMSS survey included 1,160 responses and took place from August to October.
