PEO operator gets 12 years in prison, must pay $108 million

A businessman who controlled Tampa, Fla.-based professional employer organization O2HR was sentenced to 12 years in prison and more than $108 million, the US Department of Justice reported. The businessman, Wilber Anthony Huff, had pleaded guilty in December 2014, will also be required to pay $108 million in restitution and to forfeit $10.8 million.  

Huff took $53 million for himself that O2HR collected from clients that was to go to the IRS, according to the US Attorney’s Office. Huff also took $5 million that was to go for workers’ compensation coverage. 

In addition, Huff bribed bank officials, conducted bank fraud, and conducted fraud on insurance regulators, according to the US Attorney’s Office.
