Professional employer organization Modern Business Associates (MBA) today announced the promotion of Sean McConnell to CEO. McConnell most recently held the position of chief legal officer/VP of human resources.

The Tampa Bay, Fla.-based firm also named Chris McDonald as president and COO. McDonald has more than 25 years of experience in operational and financial management, strategic planning and technical programming.

They replace former President and CEO Mark Lettelleir, who left MBA on Nov. 13.

Other executive promotions include Ellie Finehout from VP of sales and marketing to chief sales officer; Edwina Maxwell from human resources manager/assistant general counsel to VP of sales and client relations; and Kris Simonsen from VP of finance to chief risk management officer.

In addition, Robyn Rusignuolo re-joined the company as chief legal officer/VP of human resources.

“These promotions are based on a solid track record of delivering outstanding results to our clients,” said Jay Rice, an owner and MBA founder. “Between Sean, Chris, Ellie, Edwina and Kris, there is a combined 60 years of tenure with the company.  This foundation of industry experience at the executive leadership level means we can continue to deliver on our promise to solve our clients’ toughest HR problems, provide relevant value and cost savings to them, and remain focused on our internal goal of continuous quality improvement.”

The company is headquartered in St. Petersburg, Fla., and counts about 200 employees.
