Online job ads rise in August, healthcare practitioners ads lead increase

September 02, 2015

US online job ads rose by 34,200 in August to approximately 5.42 million, according to The Conference Board’s report on online job ads released today. August’s increase follows a gain of 83,700 in July and leaves the past half-year with a flat growth trend.

“Labor demand remained little changed in August, maintaining a basic flat trend over the past six months,” said Gad Levanon, managing director, macroeconomic and labor market research for The Conference Board. “The recent flat trend is not particularly troublesome given the continuing high monthly levels of employer demand in the labor market.”

In August, seven of the largest online job categories posted increases while three posted decreases.

The professional category showed some strength with healthcare practitioners posting the largest increase of all categories — up 14,300 in August to 615,900 due to rises in demand for registered nurses and licensed practical and licensed vocational nurses. Management increased by 12,100 to 491,900.

Office and administrative support ads posted the largest decline, falling by 31,300 to a total of 580,500 and returning to the category’s June level.
