Online advertisements for construction-industry jobs rose 26 percent in July when compared to the same month last year, according to Wanted Analytics, a firm that tracks online job ads. A total of more than 54,000 construction jobs were available online in July 2013.

Among metropolitan areas, Houston had the highest volume of construction job ads during July, followed by New York City, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and San Francisco.
