March 04, 2015

US online job ads rose by 184,149 in February to a total of more than 5.45 million, according to The Conference Board’s report on online jobs ads released today. The increase follows a gain of 150,414 job ads in January.

“Online labor demand has shown a very strong start in 2015, with demand increasing 334,500 across the first two months of the year,” said Gad Levanon, managing director of macroeconomic and labor market research at The Conference Board. “These increases are a positive sign for continued growth in employment.”

All occupations posted increases in February except computer and math and architecture and engineering occupations, which remained constant. The largest increase was in transportation ads, which increased 53,200 to 417,300.

The professional category saw strong gains in management, up 11,700; business and finance, up 8,800; and healthcare, up 16,000. The services/production category saw most of the gains with transportation up 53,200; food up 16,500; and sales up 16,200.
