On Call Counsel, a division of The TemPositions Group of Companies, acquired selected assets of Peak Counsel, an attorney and paralegal staffing business. Peak’s business operates on a national scale out of a New York office. The acquisition is part of On Call Counsel’s effort to become a significant presence in the New York legal market. Separately, Peak will continue to operate other business units.

As part of the acquisition, Arnold Schlanger and Leyda Mata, both executives from Peak Counsel, will establish an On Call Counsel office in New York City. Schlanger, who founded Peak Counsel 17 years ago, will serve as managing director and Mata as managing director of recruitment.

Prior to Peak, Schlanger was a practitioner in a major New York City law firm, general counsel to a large public company and director of business development at a mid-town firm. Mata worked as a legal recruiting manager at a Fortune 100 international staffing firm and served as a project manager and document review consultant on several large scale litigation projects.
