Oklahoma gets $10 million temp job grant

May 31, 2013

The U.S. Department of Labor announced a $10 million national emergency grant award to create temporary jobs to assist with cleanup and recovery efforts resulting from severe storms and tornadoes in Oklahoma that occurred between May 18 and May 20.

The grant targets the five counties that the Federal Emergency Management Agency declared eligible for its public assistance program following the storms: Cleveland, Lincoln, McClain, Oklahoma and Pottawatomie. Additional counties may be included at a later date.

The funds are being awarded to the Oklahoma Department of Commerce. $5 million will be released initially and additional funding, up to $10 million, will be made available.
