Oklahoma City posts lowest jobless rate

Oklahoma City OK posted the lowest jobless rate in January, 5.2%, among all U.S. metropolitan areas with populations of 1 million or more, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Thursday.

The Detroit area reported the highest unemployment rate among large metropolitan areas in January, 13.0%. It was followed by the Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario area in Southern California at 11.8%.

El Centro CA registered the highest unemployment rate for metropolitan areas of all sizes in January at 24.2%. The Houma-Bayou Cane-Thibodaux area in Louisiana posted the lowest jobless rate among all metropolitan areas at 3.7% in January.
