Obama plans healthcare reform confab

February 08, 2010

President Barack Obama told CBS News on Sunday that he plans to meet with Democrats and Republicans on Feb. 25 to get healthcare reform moving forward.

Healthcare reform stalled after Massachusetts voters elected Republican Scott Brown to the Senate seat formerly held by Ted Kennedy. The election cost the Democrats the 60-vote super majority needed to approve healthcare reform in the Senate.

The House and Senate had supported separate versions of healthcare reform bills -- both would have placed fees on employers -- but no final bill had yet received approval.
