January 06, 2015

Economic activity in the US non-manufacturing sector grew in December but at the slowest pace since June, according to the Institute for Supply Management’s non-manufacturing index released today.

ISM’s non-manufacturing index fell in December to a reading of 56.2 from November’s reading of 59.3. Readings above 50 indicate growth.

The median forecast of 75 economists surveyed by Bloomberg called for a December figure of 58.0.

The employment portion of the index edged down to a reading of 56.0 in December from November’s reading of 56.7.
