Niger – ILO Convention on private employment agencies ratified

22 May 2015

Niger, the largest country in West Africa, has become the latest country to ratify the International Labour Organization’s Convention No. 181 on Private Employment Agencies (1997).

This marks the second ratification this month, following Mongolia, and the third since the French Assembly voted to adopt the Convention in March.

According to the International Confederation of Private Employment Services (Ciett): “This confirms the growing interest in establishing appropriate regulation on the employment and recruitment industry in order to take full advantage of its contribution to improve the efficiency of the labour market and helping people into employment.”

The Convention will enter into force next year.
