New holding company buys staffing firm

Healthcare Staffing Partnership, a new staffing holding company, announced it acquired OfficeWorks Inc. from private equity firm Ropart Asset Management Funds and other investors.

OfficeWorks, based in Tarzana CA, provides financial, office/clerical, clinical and allied healthcare staffing. The OfficeWorks brand will be retained and the chief operating officer will remain with the company.

De Bellas & Co. advised OfficeWorks.

Terms of the transaction were not announced. The deal closed in the second quarter.

Also announced, Ephraim Barsam will become CEO of Healthcare Staffing Partnership. Barsam is CEO of the three other portfiolio firms in the holding company including Nurses in Partnership, Health Talent and Tech Group.

"After we completed the acquisition of [Tech Group], which is a major allied healthcare staffing company, we felt that there were many opportunities to acquire in the healthcare staffing space," Barsam said. "We intend to aggressively invest in and acquire other healthcare staffing companies to become part of our group. Among other things, we expect to offer second chances to those hit by the recession."
