New Zealand – Demand rising for Australian workers, especially in IT

27 November 2014

With an estimated 50,000 jobs being created in New Zealand over the next two years, many in IT, New Zealand’s Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) is reaching out across the Tasman Sea to Australia to find workers, reports cio.com.au

New Zealand’s IT industry has the fastest growth index of any industry in the country and is expected to be one of the leading export earners within six years, according to the MBIE.

Nigel Bickle, speaking on behalf of the MBIE, advised that there are professional development opportunities for Australian workers who want to make the move to New Zealand. There are also opportunities for New Zealanders to return home.

“Our economy is thriving and some of our companies are growing at a very fast rate. They need skilled and experienced employees to continue building on successes to date,” Mr Bickle explained.
